| Title : |
Flight of Fancy Radio |
| Details of Design Style: |
This is a radio designed with an aeronautical theme. The casing is based upon the cross section of an aerofoil. The controls are loosely based upon cockpit flight instruments. The speaker is housed within the casing but the speaker outlet is designed to look like the intake of a jet engine. I placed some veins on the front of the casing to give the radio some styling features. These veins are taken from some 1920's radio designs which are shown on my moodboard. |

| Comments on methods used: |
I used various methods to produce the assembly including sweeping a sketch then shelling for the main body, front and back. I used a rotation for the cowling effect of speaker and circular patterning for the turbine blade effect. |
| Design Resources used: |
I used a number of resources for the initial design ideas and tutorials. My moodboard shows the influences on the initial design ideas. I used web based tutorials to complete the modelling task these were www.cadcamwickispaces.com and www.cadinschools.org. To produce the engineering drawing I accessed the site www.me.cmu.edu |
